Where to begin....it's definitely been a minute since I last posted on this blog! Life has been super busy for me these last few months teaching lots and preparing my final papers for my Master's in Education! Only one month left and I can officially add 3 more letters to my name! Lol....But seriously, it feels good to almost be finished. It feels like I've been on mission for the last two years and it was hard to see the end of the tunnel for a while, but the end is near and I can hardly wait!
Over the last few months Luv2Groove has been to over 50 schools promoting the growth and development of dance education in schools. In March, Luv2Groove represented at the Arts Incentive day for the Catholic School board in Ottawa. This was a great event which gave Luv2Groove a chance to share our passion for dance education with teachers/principals across Ottawa.
In April, Luv2Groove finally had our first co-op student join the team for a week of dance at Tagwi Secondary school in Avonmore Ontario. Abbie Sergenese a student from Cornwall Collegiate Vocation School was an amazing assistant/addition to the program! Her contagious high spirited energy is just what the doctor ordered!
In between teaching, applying for grants, and finishing my Master's, I decided to get certified in the GROOVE Method. Since February, I have been teaching GROOVE classes in order to complete my 6 practicum hours to become a GROOVE method facilitator. In addition to the my practicum hours, I have been travelling to Toronto on the weekends to complete the rest of my required courses in order to become a fully certified GROOVE instructor. At the end of April, Luv2Groove spent a week at Nationview Public School! What an amazing school! The energy was incredible from beginning to the end of the week! Who said kids in the country don't know how to groove? Cause they sure know how to move!!!!
Recently, Luv2Groove went to Montreal to support Canada's best Hip hop event called: Bust A Move 9! It was incredible, the amount of talent that was packed into one room that evening was jaw dropping! I had the opportunity to sell some Luv2Groove T.shirts and vintage clothing from my urban vintage line called Throwback Threadz. All proceeds from our T.shirts go towards helping underprivileged/marginalized youth come to our dance camp for FREE!

July 1st- Julia will be judging at this year's Canada Day battle on Major Hill's Park in Ottawa ON!
